Recently, the Nuclear Energy Institute of China National Nuclear Corporation announced good news: They have successfully completed the entire process technology for separating the boron-10 isotope using the low-temperature distillation method, and have stably produced enriched boron-10 products with an abundance of 70%. This technological breakthrough marks that China has mastered the low-temperature distillation technology for separating the boron-10 isotope on a large scale, with complete independent intellectual property rights.

Boron-10 exhibits outstanding neutron absorption properties and has broad application prospects in the nuclear industry. With the increasing global demand for clean energy and nuclear safety, the importance of boron-10 in the construction and operation of nuclear power plants is becoming increasingly prominent. However, the scale production level of boron isotopes in China is relatively lagging behind, unable to meet the growing development needs. 

It is known that in order to solve this problem, with the support of the National Defense Science and Technology Commission and China National Nuclear Corporation, the Institute of Atomic Energy conducted the "Research on Engineering Technology for Separating Boron Isotopes by Low-Temperature Distillation Method" project. Professor Hu Shilin, a Chinese Academy of Engineering academician and the chief scientist of China National Nuclear Corporation, served as the team leader. 

After years of unremitting efforts and collective research and development, the technical breakthrough was finally achieved successfully.
