The simulation test plan for the six joint welds of the main pipeline of the CAP1000 reactor type has been successfully approved by the experts.

On October 20, 2025, China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd. held an expert review meeting for the "Technical Application Research Guidance Manual for the Six-Port Joint Welding Simulation Test of the CAP1000 Reactor Type Primary Pipe" at the Xudabao Nuclear Power Site. Representatives from the joint research units including China Nuclear Industry Second and Third Construction Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Nuclear II and III") and Beijing Ramon Cyber Nuclear Equipment Technology Research Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Ramón Cyber") attended the meeting together. 

Zhonghe No. 2 and No. 3 Yellow Mountain Safety Officer delivered the welcome speech. The meeting was chaired by Xu Chunfu from China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd. 

The meeting elected Lv Huaxiang as the leader of the expert group for this review. At the meeting, Zhou Zhiqing, the representative of the nuclear energy division of China Nuclear No. 2 and No. 3, presented to the expert group the simulation test plan for the six joint welds of the main pipe of the CAP1000 reactor type, key technologies, and implementation plan. During the meeting, the experts engaged in heated discussions on the technical feasibility and control points of the project. Li Meng, Xie Boshan, Wang Shuangjian, Gu Junxu, Zhang Weidong, and Wu Shuo from China Nuclear No. 2 participated in the expert defense. 

After thorough discussion, the expert group unanimously agreed that this technical solution is reasonable and feasible. The six-port joint welding technology for the main pipeline will effectively enhance the installation efficiency and welding quality of the CAP1000 reactor type main pipeline. It has significant innovative significance in promoting the digitalization, intelligence, and systematic nature of the on-site installation project of the CAP reactor type. 

The main pipeline is an important component of the cooling system for nuclear power plant reactors. The welding quality of this pipeline directly affects the safe operation of the nuclear power plant. The original welding method was time-consuming and difficult to control deformation. However, the "six-port joint welding" technology, through digital vector control of the deformation of the active pipeline, synchronous ideal alignment, and synchronous low-stress welding, significantly improves the installation efficiency and quality.
